Graffiti in abandoned places is a controversial subject in the urban exploration world. We examine an abandoned graffiti-filled chicken factory and its reflection of the graffiti phenomenon in lost places, featuring “Astra”.
There has always been a growing trend among artists and street art enthusiasts to devote themselves to creating graffiti and murals in abandoned places. These spaces, often left unused and overlooked by local authorities, have become veritable stages for expressing creativity and protest, in an environment that, although considered a grey area, is slowly seeing a certain tolerance on the part of the authorities.

A good example of this trend is a factory that once processed chickens for the food industry. Now long abandoned, this site has been transformed into a veritable museum of urban art. The walls of this factory are covered with graffiti, tags, and murals by various artists, among whom Astra stands out, a local talent on the street art scene. Astra has left her mark on the walls of this place, writing her name with an art that goes beyond simple markings; it is a true visual language, the result of years of dedication and experimentation.

Astra was a member of the “Gelo Crew”, a group of artists known for their lettering techniques. Such techniques are more than just a game: they are considered a complex artistic discipline that requires precision, study, and creativity. Through her graffiti, Astra has transformed abandoned spaces into a true visual narrative, bringing new life and meaning to forgotten places.

Although still operating in a grey area between legality and illegality, the graffiti trend is gaining increasing support, thanks in part to a growing awareness that urban art can help to redevelop and enhance forgotten spaces, bringing a message of rebirth and free expression.
